OCTOBER 08 2017
Hey everyone! We are so incredibly excited to invite you to a small and intimate affair: Landon and I exchanging our vows in our favourite city!! CHICAGO!!
I've created this page to share with you all the details in and out of our weekend that we are planning. We are completely understanding of all the time, money, and care it takes to plan a weekend away with your budding families and lives so please don't feel pressured to come if you can't make it. However, if you can come, we will be so honoured to have you present to celebrate with us and we are planning to make the whole weekend worth while. In the words of Landon, "I want the whole weekend to be a celebration and I want to show everyone our favourite city."
We can't wait!

Why Chicago? well...
Landons two favourite cities (so far) have been Chicago and New York. He always knew if he had the opportunity to propose to me in another city that he wanted it to be one of those two.
I got to tag along on a business trip of his to Chicago last year and I fell in love with that city almost as much as he had when he first visited it years prior.
As many of you know, Landon and I got engaged in Chicago, thus rounding out an already incredible city to being a very special place in our hearts. The people are amazing, the food is great, and the Architecture....well- that's obvious.
Why You Should Come....
This isn't JUST a wedding, although we hope that you are equally as excited as we are that we are getting married in our most favourite city. We have a fun weekend planned for everyone who wants to be involved but please know that if you want to do your own thing while you are in the city- please do! Our must-see list includes:
- Wrigley Field - Go cubs!
- The Chicago Athletic Club
- Art Institute of Chicago
- The Lincoln Conservatory
- Millenium Park (where the big bean is called cloud 9)
- All the great food places which I can't even list all here. The food scene is amazing!
- Adler Planetarium, great for kids who love space! (*cough Tara * cough)
- Soho House
- & more!
venue + accomodation
public hotel, chicago
So this is our gorgeous venue, we will be getting married on the AVA Terrace, a roof-top that overlooks the incredible Chicago Skyline. Public is world-renowned for its interior design, specifically the PUMP room, feel free to google that. Landon is super passionate about creating experiences so we chose a location that not only reflects our personal style but also adds to your experience while staying in Chicago. We want you to have the best experience while you are here and Public is one of the first places we would tell you to go check out.
Address: 1301 N State St,
We are staying at Public Hotel and we have gotten an incredible mid-range price for our wedding block if you would like to get the full Chicago experience. Of course please don't feel pressured to stay at Public! As of right now we have 10 rooms (we paid a deposit to hold this many and we will inquire for me if need to) ready for booking for 3 nights under the "Hyatt-Anholt Wedding", if you would like to book call: 1-312-573-5817.
Group Block : $199 USD/ Night for King Superior*
Single (Queen or King) : $199 USD/night
Two Doubles : $299 USD/night
* keep note: State and City tax is 17.4%
An Important Note:
* Please know that you are not required to stay at Public Hotel! Chicago is very easy to navigate and offers a ton of different places to stay. Ways to get around super easily are: UBER, a taxi cab, divvy bikes, the train, and walking! I got around on foot, using the many bike lanes, and UBER and felt very safe in the city. Also keep note that this weekend we are in Chicago is apparently a long-weekend for Americans (Columbus day- who knew!) as well as The Chicago Marathon will be on Saturday so the city will be BUMPIN.
Landon and I haven't booked our flights yet, we are waiting for the prices to drop. An average price for a round trip varies between $400-$650 CAD. $650 is definitely more on the higher side. We are using an APP to monitor the pricing for us and we highly recommend doing so as well especially if you want to get a good rate! Download: HOPPER.
* Important: Make sure your passport is updated! Sometimes they won't let you through if your passport expires within 6 months. Also... with all these travel bans with the president elect, stay informed just in case we all need to apply for visas. I sure hope not but you just never know!
hang out with uS!
Friday: most people I think will be flying in on Thursday night or Friday depending on their schedules so we have left Friday open for exploration. Landon and I were hoping to catch a Cubs game! *fingers crossed*
Saturday: Early afternoon we are doing the Chicago Architecture boat tour followed by beer + pizza in Millenium park (totally legal to have alcohol in the park) for the afternoon. I'm hopeful there is a free concert in the amphitheatre where Landon proposed. That evening Landon and I are having a "rehearsal dinner" with our families.
Sunday: In the morning Jamie is doing a girls brunch and Landon is thinking of either a brew tour or going to a barber with all the guys. Followed by the wedding festivities in the afternoon.
* If you are interested in any of the above! Let us know in the RSVP so we can plan on numbers! We will be sending out an email and notifying everyone of the plans alongside time and locations.
our wedding day
We will be married on the Ava Terrace at Public Hotel, weather permitting. If the weather isn't the greatest we will be inside in one of the event rooms. But please bring a shawl or a light sweater/jacket for the evening as it is autumn and it is* the windy city.
light reception: 5:00PM
* cocktails (open bar) and appetizers will be served
* 4 course meal by an incredible chef
toasts: starting at 6:30pm / open to anyone!
first dance: 8:00pm
* At this point you guys can end your night if you would like or* follow to the after-party we have planned!
jazz bar: 10:00pm
midnight snack: 12:00pm (SHAKE SHACK!)
Ok, so we all know we love photos and I am sort of in love with our hashtag ( #tohaveanholt ) so please use it through-out the weekend to share your photos with us on instagram! It is a double meaning! I am becoming an 'Anholt' and so it will likely be tagged on to my name at some point (still in debate) but it also sounds like "to have and to hold." I know- brilliant.
Please confirm if you are coming! Also please mention any food allergies or preferences (veggie). The chef who will be catering our wedding is incredible and can accomodate to everyones needs. It is a seated 4 course meal.
last, but not least...
a word from L + J
Thank you! Thank you for being someone we hold close, you have been invited because you mean the world to us and we wanted to share our favourite city with you while we embark on this new journey of marriage. You may be a new friend who we see a lifetime of friendship with, a forever friend we have known since elementary school, or met at work, or even better you share some type of DNA with us (lucky you.) Either way, we are grateful for your presence in our lives and we can't wait to be officially Mr & Mrs and have a weekend that we won't ever forget!

If you are coming to Chicago, please do not buy us a wedding gift! We honestly have so much in our lives and we really just want your company. We were asked to provide a registry for those who were unable to make it but would like to get us something special instead. All you have to do is click on the store and input our information in to the registry. You can buy online and ship it or purchase in-store. Keep in mind some locations may not have the stock/line or may be sold out.
